Growing up as the fat kid who often got picked on for his weight, nobody understands the body image struggle more than I do. My nickname among my supposed friends was "Pudge," which always stung more than I let on. Originally from a rural town off the coast of Maine, I discovered health and fitness around the age of twenty, and in doing so, completely transformed my body, mind, and entire life. I'd ventured into a bookstore with a friend of mine who wanted to check out their Martial Arts section, which happened to be right next to their selection of Health and Fitness publications. I was immediately drawn to "The New Encyclopedia of Modern Bodybuilding," written by the legendary Arnold Schwarzenegger who, until that point, I'd only known from the movies I'd grown up with. I knew very little of his bodybuilding background, or bodybuilding in general, and quickly became hooked. I was too poor to afford the thick encyclopedia at the time but talked about it so much that I ended up receiving it as a birthday gift from my brother the following month. I wasted no time tearing through the book, reading it from cover to cover while beginning my own fitness journey. Within one year, I'd lost over fifty pounds while packing on a decent amount of muscle, making me unrecognizable to former classmates.

I once believed that I was destined to be overweight, but came to realize that through exercise and proper nutrition, you really can transform your body. I'm living proof that despite genetic predispositions, anyone is capable of this transformation if they set their mind to it. The only thing stopping you is yourself! I adopted a "no excuses" mindset, refusing to skip workouts while developing better eating habits, and that discipline paid off in a major way. Not only did I change my body, but I also changed my mind by developing the confidence I once sorely lacked. With that newfound confidence came an avalanche of good things, all of them direct results of my commitment to building a better version of myself. Given my genetics, I've had to work a bit harder than most people to change my body in such a drastic way, yet I've never complained about it or used it as an excuse. If anything, I've viewed it as an extra challenge, and if anyone loves a challenge, it's me!

I launched Your Dream Body as a way of helping others who are struggling with their own physical fitness and body image. Unlike most personal trainers who were born with athletic genetics, I really do understand the feeling of being trapped in a body you're not satisfied with. I know the struggle all too well, and because of this, I've developed a passion for teaching others how they can completely overhaul their body and mind, too! Let me show you the methods I used to transform myself from an overweight, timid kid into a fit, confident bodybuilding and physique champion. If I can do it, so can you!

When I began my health and fitness journey at twenty years old, I never thought it would lead to me stepping onto a competition stage. As much as I love the sport of bodybuilding, I didn't think I had what it took to be a viable competitor. However, after losing somebody I loved deeply to breast cancer, I set my sights on my first bodybuilding competition as a way of distracting myself from the pain. I needed something to prevent a downward spiral of depression, so I hyper-focused on an upcoming bodybuilding show as a coping mechanism for my grief. Of course, I wasn't sure if I'd actually go through with it. Despite transforming my body, a part of me will always see myself as the fat kid. Standing on stage wearing next to nothing while having my body critiqued by a panel of judges, along with an auditorium full of spectators, was certainly a nerve-wracking thought! Driven by the loss of my loved one and wanting to finish what I'd started, I fine-tuned my training and diet, and I hesitantly took the stage. I wasn't expecting to even place, let alone win, so imagine my surprise when I took 1st place in both Men's Bodybuilding and Men's Physique! To prove to myself this wasn't just a fluke, I competed again the following year where I once again took 1st place in both Men's Bodybuilding, Men's Physique, and Men's Physique Overall, earning myself a coveted pro card by doing so.

If I could transform myself from a bullied fat kid into a bodybuilding and physique champion, just think of what you could accomplish as well!
